At the beginning of an election campaign corflutes are signs of political hope.

But what happens to them at the end?

ABC Radio listeners shared many uses for expired election signage ranging from construction boards for jigsaws, cubby houses and kids craft to car windscreen protectors during hailstorms.

Bob Gardiner of Isabella Plains uses corflutes as liners in his raised garden beds and to provide extra shade and keep wood shavings inside his chook palace.

Eric in Narrabundah reuses Greens corflutes to regulate the temperature of his home.

ABC Canberra's Adrienne Francis spoke to Katherine Harrington from ACT NoWaste about her recycling hacks and a free trial directing corflutes away from landfill.

Since October 2020 Canberrans have sent 5 tonnes of corflutes to Mugga Mugga and Mitchell Resource Management Centres as part of the free ACT Government trial, which is due to conclude in September.
