Hilliard, Ohio-based Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. will invest $15 million into its Fairmont, Minn., site to buy 14 acres of land and add manufacturing space as part of an expansion plan expected to create 25 jobs over the next five years.
The manufacturer of pipe and other products to manage stormwater and septic wastewater will build a 30,000-square-foot addition onto its 39,000-square-foot facility in an industrial park, where it employs 75 people.
The plan is to double the number of production lines, according to Brian King, ADS vice president of marketing and product management.
"This is to continue to meet the growing demand for all ADS products in the region while helping to reduce the time and cost of delivery to our customers," King said in a news release. "For many years, this plant has been one of the cornerstones of our Midwest operation because of the dedication of the team that goes above and beyond. This project will help them continue their commitment to provide the very best products and service."
The facility operates its own fleet of dedicated delivery trucks, and the inventory of all ADS products will be increased and available at the site, King said.
The existing facility dates back to 1978, when it operated as a business called Hancor, plant manager Jeff Lueth told The Fairmont Sentinel.
ADS plans to begin construction in May and have the additional space closed to the weather in November.
Meanwhile, the land purchased nearby will be used for yard space, raw material storage and parking.
With $1.5 billion in annual extrusion sales, ADS is the third largest pipe, profile and tubing producer in North America, according to Plastics News' latest ranking.
The company manufactures high density polyethylene and polypropylene corrugated pipe, fittings and other products for water management and drainage uses in the construction, infrastructure and agriculture markets.
