Yard signs have been popping up throughout the area, so it’s time to get in some step-dancing lessons. That’s right. It’s almost time to party – with some green, orange and white hues, of course – at the annual Ocean County Irish Festival.

Scheduled again for Manahawkin Lake Park, the festival is set for Saturday, Sept. 10. Hosted by the Ocean County chapter of The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, the festival featuring everything Irish is slated from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and admission is free.

As always, the event will have plenty of food and beer to go around, along with kid-friendly activities and vendors selling their wares. On the entertainment slate are the Devrin School of Irish Dance, the Ocean County Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, the Shamrock and Thistle Pipe and Drums, and the bands Captain and O’Neill, The Willie Lynch Band and Callan. Bring your own seating to enjoy the entertainment.

For those interested in being vendors or sponsors, forms can be found on the group’s website, ooceancountyirishfestival.com, which also has plenty more information regarding the event. If you want to stay in contact with the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, visit facebook.com/OceanFSOS.  —D.B.
