The Baltimore Ravens are in the final weeks of working out a huge contract extension with franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Jackson has already told the Ravens that Week 1 is the deadline for them to get a deal done.
If not, Jackson will play out the final year of his deal in 2022 and need a new contract before next season.
These quarterback contracts are always the most difficult to get done.
Not only is money a big talking point in any deal but so are clauses in the contract and possible player/team options.
Baltimore should look to get this deal done in the next few weeks or the price may go up.
The 2019 NFL MVP is coming off a season where he missed five games due to injury.
Now, back healthy heading into 2022, Jackson is expected to put up another monster season.
Throughout his four-year career, all Jackson does is win.
He has a 37-12 record in his career, including three trips to the playoffs.
Some scouts thought coming out of Louisville, Jackson would be a running back in the NFL.
Instead, he has thrown for 9,967 yards and 84 touchdowns with only 31 interceptions in his career.

Not only has Jackson developed into a great passer, but he also is the best rushing QB of all time.
Only Michael Vick was similar but the Ravens QB has more explosiveness.
Jackson already has two 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his career and the injury was the only reason he missed it last season.
For his career, the 25-year-old averages 6.0 yards per attempt on the ground.
In only four seasons, Jackson is already halfway to the all-time quarterback rushing yards record.
That record was set by Vick, in 143 games the ex-Falcon had 6,109 yards.
While Jackson has 3,673 yards in only 58 games.

He has seemingly got better every season and there are no signs of him slowing down.
Now is time for the Ravens to open up their checkbooks and pay their QB.
Kyler Murray was the most recent quarterback to be paid big dollars.
The former first-overall pick was given a five-year, $230.5 million contract in July.
That should be the baseline for the Jackson contract negotiations.
Murray has had nowhere near the success of Jackson while in the NFL.
Plus, Jackson having an MVP puts him in rare company with only four other active players that have won the award.
Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers are in that same company and are also being paid like former MVPs.
The total value of Jackson’s contract may not reach the value of Mahomes’ deal.
According to Over The Cap, Mahomes will be getting $450 million in total value.
But, the Ravens quarterback should get more money per year than Mahomes, who is getting $45 million per year.
Jackson also has a shot to eclipse the $50 million per year that Rodgers is getting.
The only thing for Jackson left to prove is success in the playoffs.
He is 1-3 in his career in the postseason and that is the only thing holding him back.
But, with most contracts, you are paying the player for what they are going to do.
Jackson is still in the early parts of his prime and the sky is the limit for what he can accomplish in the NFL.
