The New Cumberland Volunteers have announced the winners of the club’s “Yard of the Month” for August. The winning yard belongs to Dick and Cookie McSwegin of Third Avenue. Their sloping yard is filled with several small gardens, and the large deck around their home has lots of containers filled with flowers and trailing vines. For their efforts, they were given a check from the city, a framed certificate and yard sign which will remain in their yard until the September winner is announced. The “Yard of the Month” project is a joint venture between the city of New Cumberland and the New Cumberland Volunteers. Winners are selected each month between June and October. Shown in the photo are Cookie and Dick McSwegin and New Cumberland Mayor Will White (far right). (Submitted photo)
