■The Town of Allenstown Selectmen will present the Boston Post Cane to Helen Martel on May 9 at 6 p.m. at the Allenstown Town Hall.
■A concert with Jackie Lee and the Cold Steel Ramblers will be held on May 15 starting at 4 p.m. at the Blueberry Express Park on the Town Hall lawn. The AEDC is also planning a Corn Hole Tournament to start at 3 p.m., please sign up so they know how many to expect. Refreshments will be available. ■The Joyce J. Welch scholarship Fund is awarding two $3,000 scholarships to the Graduating Class of 2022 Pembroke Academy. Applications for the Joyce J. Welch Memorial Science Scholarship Fund are available at the Pembroke Academy counseling department.
■The Suncook Senior Center on May 11 at 12:30 p.m. will hold Virtual Bowling where people have expressed an interest in starting the bowling league back up. So come on down and play a few games. It is a lot of fun.

■The Chichester Historical Society is proud to present a special program on May 9 at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall. The program is entitled “Ruptured Ducks.” Mark Stevens will present the program featuring recollections and stories featuring from WW11 veterans. He promised to reveal what the term means!
■The Cemetery Trustees would like to thank the volunteers who helped them erect, repair and clean grave markers. Marion, Gordon and Wes Jones worked on the Perkins/Maxfield markers. David Colbert repaired gravestones in the Page Cemetery. All their help is appreciated.
■The Chichester Youth Association baseball schedule for Saturday is Tee Ball at 9 a.m. at Carpenter Park. The Rookies will play at Pittsfield at 11 a.m. The minors will host Barnstead at 2 p.m at the park. Opening day for both teams was successful with wins.
■The BCEP Solid Waste District front entrance is under construction. Enter and exit at the back gate and follow the signs. The BCEP will be meeting on May 26 at 6 p.m.
■Chichester Library invites you to learn “What’s The History of Your House” presented by Erin Moulton on May 21 at 6 p.m. at the library.
■The Chichester Firefighters Association is hosting a town-wide yard sale on June 11. More information to come.
■Sympathies to the family of Alexander Alan MacRae who passed away on April 27. Alan served on the Chichester Planning Board for several years.
■The Carpenter Park basketball court is ready for use after a new hoop and backboard were brought and installed by the Chichester Youth Association.
■Drug Take Back Day is always in effect at the Chichester Police Department with a deposit box located in the foyer, year round. The department encourages you to drop off prescriptions you no longer need or have expired.
■The Chichester Conservation Commission has renamed the Spaulding Town Forest the Shirley Water Conservation Area. The area was named in memory of Shirley who made monetary donations to various groups including the conservation area.
■The Chichester Police Department welcomes Sargent Matt Fudala. Stop by the department and welcome him.
■The Board of Selectmen has appointed Sofia Johnson as health officer replacing Patrick Clark who served for many years. Pat will be retiring as police chief in July.
■New appointments to the Planning Board are Russell Blaney and Andrea Deachman as full members and Dan Humphrey as an alternate. Thanks for stepping up and volunteering for the town.
■Toys and games, many dating back to the early 1900s are on display at the Chichester Historical Society. Stop by Mondays or Fridays from 9 a.m. until noon and see the display.
■Reminder, new hours for the town clerk/tax collector are Mondays (8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), Tuesdays (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Wednesdays and Thursdays (8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). The Selectmen’s Office opens one hour earlier.
■Chichester Central School Track & Field team opened their season in Laconia with a five-team meet. CCS won several events and had many excellent performances.
■Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating you.
