This week marks Hospital Week and its theme, “We are Health Care,” reminds us that together all of us contribute to the organization’s mission to advance health to serve Michigan and the world. Whether you are on the front line or behind the scenes, your contribution counts.

As U-M Health President David Miller, M.D., M.P.H., shared in a recent email: “This theme speaks to the unwavering commitment and perseverance that you have demonstrated, despite many challenges and complex situations. I am extremely grateful for our teams and for the collaboration we practice every day. Michigan Medicine is truly living up to our core values of integrity, teamwork, caring, innovation and inclusion.”

It is that collaborative spirit which has led to so many distinguished accomplishments, including the Magnet designation in nursing, an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, our high U.S. News & World Report rankings for both the health system and medical school, a perfect score on the Healthcare Equality Index, the Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth, and the numerous other awards we have received for our innovative research and educational excellence.

There are too many prestigious awards and professional accolades to count — but what has become even more meaningful are the kind words and moments of support from peers, mentors and patients that help us through the more challenging times.

A moment to celebrate you

Over the next few weeks, many group activities have been designed to celebrate you, including a Recharge Room celebration, Mott’s Spirit Week and Adult Hospital Town Halls.

In addition, to show our appreciation for you and all our teams, Michigan Medicine is offering yard signs to help you celebrate this week — or to share your gratitude with others.

If you would like a yard sign for yourself or your team, please email headlines@med.umich.edu and we will let you know when and where to pick up the signs. This is on a first-come, first-served basis, so send us your request as soon as possible.

As always, thank you for all you do for patients, families and each other at Michigan Medicine!
